ODESSA, September 4, 2017. The best works of the international videomapping and VJ contest “3D VIDEO ART”, which held on the Second International Festival of light “Odessa Light Fest”, are defined. This year, 51 applications from 47 designers and creative teams from 15 countries were submitted for participation in the two categories. In 2015, there were 13 applications from 4 countries.
Representatives from Switzerland, Poland, Venezuela, Belgium, Indonesia, Mexico, Russia, and Japan took part in the competition for the first time.
The finals were held 17 works from 13 countries. The audience and jury of the festival could see them on the historical facade of the Odessa City Council. The winners were chosen by the international jury, which included Ostap Chitruk, creative director of Magic Innovations and the first place winner of the Berlin Festival of Light 2016, Istvan David, founder and CEO of Limelight 3D Projection Mapping, Alexander Nekhvedovich, founder and director of the creative cluster “The Fourth Dimension” and the first place winner of the 3D Video Art contest on the Odessa Light Fest 2016″, Agnes Szentannay, projection company “Maxin10sity”, art-direction “iMapp Bucharest”, Alexander Bereznyak, leading specialist in technology and software developer company «LightConverse LTD».
The jury of the contest, when choosing the best 2D and 3D projections works, was operated by following criteria, as the plot integrity of the story, technique, originality&imagination, connection to music, the audience reaction.

1 st place – work “STM Reality”, Barandun Nikulin (Switzerland)
2 nd place – work “Macondo”, NullPixel, team Fatima Ramirez, Israel Lopez (Mexico)
3 rd place – work “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, Shamsheeva Julia (Ukraine)
The nomination “VJ ART”:
1 st place – High Files Visuals, Tommaso Rinaldi (Italy)
Special diplomas for the integrity of the plot for the H3oMC studio (United Arab Emirates) for the work “Labyrinth of Medusa” and spectator sympathy for the work “The Rush” by Dmitry Usatiy (Ukraine) were also awarded.
ODESSA LIGHT FEST is an outstandingly beautiful interactive show and one of the most spectacular events in the world. With the help of the most advanced 2D and 3D graphic technologies, special illumination, interactive solutions, architectural lighting and artistic installations, talented artists alter the look of the city beyond recognition.
3D Video Art contest is an International contest of audiovisual artworks representing 2D-3D light color projections on physical urban objects considering their geometry and positioning, with music and/or speaker’s accompaniment. The key requirement of the 3D Video Art Competition is usage of effects, artistic techniques and original ideas of integration of the entry work with the architectural peculiarities of the façades of the buildings provided for the Competition. The Competition is held among professionals, students, creative teams, design studios on the Odessa Light Fest.
